Thank you for your interest in booking Rocky Rivera! As a social justice artist, activist and educator, it is Rocky's passion to address relevant issues and use her platform to create safe spaces for all.
Because of her commitment to these ideologies, we believe they should filter through our business practices in the practice of feminist economics. Before you go through the booking process, please ask yourself the following: 1.) Am I requesting FREE services in exchange for promotion? Rocky Rivera believes that working artists should be paid for their services. This goes for fundraisers, community events and benefits. Artists are not entitled to support any organization that exploits their art and labor for their own benefit. For the causes she does believe in, Rocky chooses 3 community events a year to donate her performance or provide at a discounted rate at her discretion. 2.) Am I going through the right channels? Booking through social media handles or the Beatrock Music site is not the way to go. Please email our booking emails. 3) Are you in SUPPORT or SOLIDARITY? To believe in Feminist ideology, you must acknowledge the historical exclusion of women in the arts, women in education, women in the music industry, and women in hip hop. Support lasts one moment, one event, one celebration. SOLIDARITY lasts a lifetime! Booking a community artist ONCE is great. Supporting their art by purchasing and not RIPPING their music, sharing with friends, and treating their lyrics as a body of work in your classrooms is important and keeps us going. Knowing that an artist is accessible is no excuse to request their presence if there is no compensation. This is why we create a lasting body of work for your reference and your ongoing support. |
